Methods of teaching creativity

Text from 2022 (Project Arting 2022 "city?")

A university, although most often associated with education and student life, is also always a research center. The University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała not only supports research used in industry, environmental protection or healthcare, but also creates innovative environments in the region and enables the creation of cooperation networks. One example is CityLaBB Social Innovation and Research Workshop - a platform supporting the exchange of knowledge and know-how. Its initiator is a sociologist from Bielsko and a researcher of urban processes, Dr. Joanna Wróblewska-Jachna.

ATH has also been involved in popularizing science for years. This year, the Festival of Science and Art was organized for the 22nd time. The sunny, picnic-scientific Sunday in Słowacki Park gathered crowds of residents of our city, who could experiment together with scientists from Bielsko or talk personally with invited guests from the world of science and art. On the second day, the Festival moved to the ATH campus, and the lecture halls and university laboratories were taken over mainly by children (over a thousand of them signed up!). Under the care of employees and students, they toured the university, covering previously prepared educational paths. The traditional festival Beskid Dictation for the Pen of the President of Bielsko-Biała also took place, with the participation of Prof. Jerzy Bralczyk.

Since spring of this year, Gemini Park Bielsko-Biała has been hosting "Science Point ATH". This mini science centre houses not only the permanent exhibition "Waves Around Us", but also organises popular science workshops and shows prepared by ATH staff and students, including robot programming workshops, chemical and physical experiment shows, language classes, mathematical, theatre and art workshops, and classes using 3D printing.

The Faculty of Materials, Civil and Environmental Engineering of ATH is implementing the project "Young Engineer Academy" (AMI-go), aimed at young people particularly interested in developing in the field of chemical, physical and natural sciences. In turn, the Faculty of Health Sciences, during various outdoor events, trains the residents of our city in the field of first aid - the correct performance of resuscitation or the use of an AED (i.e. a publicly available automatic external defibrillator).
